Default Tape for taping the spine!!!!

Guys I found this stuff by accident.....

I have always used 3M electrical tape for taping the spine when honing, worked great, real sticky, and had good wear resistance...
Luckily our Walmart is undergoing a massive re-model, so I have been avoiding the place... I happened into an ACE hardware store and found their own "ACE" brand of .75 mil plastic electrical tape.... Bad news the crap is made in China, good news is it isn't as sticky as the 3M tape, and so far (knocking on wood) I have not had one bit at all of the sticky black tape residue left on the razors... It sticks well enough for doing the razor, and it wears as good as the 3M, but no sticky clean up

I bought 5 rolls just in case it changes later

I'm not a true fan of taping but when I use any, I use Coroplast PVC electrical tape (made in germany).
Doesn't wear through easily and doesn't leave a residue either.

Ahhh, the dreaded reformulation, scourge of wetshavers AND razor restorers!
I wold imagine that the cheaper the tape the better, actually, if the adhesive residue is a problem--weaker adhesive, less residue.

I get 3M. Made in St. Paul, Minnesota. I haven't had someone from China come in the shop to buy a tattoo lately. My philosophy is to buy American, the job you save may be your own.

I know it is like trying to close the barn door after the cow has gotten out but that is my policy whenever possible. I wouldn't even walk into a Walmart since I found out that they coerce vendors to move their manufacturing offshore.

Too sad that greedy politicians and entrepreneurs have sold out the American worker. Killed the goose that laid the golden egg. End of rant.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
