Thanked: 13234http://straightrazorpalace.com/galle...-muhahaha.html
I just honed that one last night and shaved it this morning,,,,
The only difference when honing these that I noticed is that on larger blades 7/8 and bigger, you have to be a little careful not to push the edge over the top... I will try and make some sense here, the edge is capable of more flex than say a 5/8 when you are honing... So if you apply pressure it is very, very, easy to "overhone" (god I hate using that term) these blades, and get a rough edge....
You might try switching up the stroke too when doing them, like when I do a 10 lap set on these I do 4 straight laps then 1 X lap, 4 straight 1 X Then on the next ten lap set I reverse that to 4 X and 1 straight etc:....
Stropper: I am by no means telling you how to hone here, but I would say that using soap on a Shapton is not reccomended.... Whether it will actually hurt the binder in the stone is unknown but Shapton does not recommend it either.... that is just FYI......... I bet it does work slick as all get out though
