Default Can You Top This Huge Translucent Arkansas Hone?

I have decided that Arkansas hones are too slow and waste my time, but wanted to post a picture of this king sized example of a translucent hone. It was hell to lap, but works on knives and razors. Maybe a modern day Mountain Man would like this for his Green River or Bowie type knife. This is my last post about Arkansas stones, unless somebody can beat this one!

I agree, regardless of how slow it is, that is a beautiful stone. If I had it, I would not let go of it. But then I have perpetual HAD.

I really like the diagonal patterning in the razor. In my limited experience with Damascus steel, I believe that's unusual.

    Nice rock too!

At this point I need to give credit to Tim Zowada, who made my Damascus razor. It is uniquely beautiful, and was the only razor in my collection I felt would look natural lying on that chunk of translucent Arkansas novaculite. By the way, I think the reddish orange inclusions are iron. Thanks Tim!

I'm really loving natural stones, as much for their honing ability as for there art. That is a beautiful one for sure

I must have HAD. I was so busy looking at that beautiful rock that I didn't even notice the Damascus blade. I mean I saw there was a razor there but I was focused on the hone. Like Chris I would keep that just for the beauty of it even if I was never going to hone with it.
