You know why is smooths out when you go to chromium from Diamond?
Because your going backwards, It's dulling the keeness, which is fine, I do the samething. If I buy a blade, as soon as I shave, I know if it's been taken to .25 Diamond. I go to Crox to smooth it out...works fine...

Nope, I've not tried diamond pastes because they are kind of pricey and I've heard too many people talk about the harshness.

I use chromium oxide from Chris L and some < 0.5 micron red paste from karakoup1 in the classifieds. I don't know what type the < 0.5 micron stuff is, but I like it.

Of course this is a YMMV thing. I thought it to be the case also before I have worked with it. It is a point of debate and many of the long time pros say no that it does not have a dulling effect , if you don't go to many laps. I just know that when I come off diamond then Chrome that my blades are sharp enough that I had to adjust my technique a bit to keep the blade from cutting "under" the slightest fold of skin. Something I did not have to worry about before that.

    Take Care,
    Richard

I love using my coticule as a finisher and do it all the time, but I do a LOT of water only strokes (like 100-200). The finish off it works great on my face for whatever reason. Love my escher too. Not a big fan of pastes.
