You have one? Are they Zeepk hones? Terrible? Or not that bad?

I'm finding that a long time ago (around 2005) there was some mention of them on various threads, but not recently....not a good sign, I guess.

What's the deal with the zeepk hone. I see it on ebay every so often and of course avoid it due to zeepk's reputation, but the other night I got curious again. What's wrong with it? It doesn't cut steel at all? It's not a good grit for a barber hoen? I mean, for the price I was thinking it could be a good stone for newbies, even if it turns out to be a 4k or even a bevel setter The only thing I can think of that would make it useless would be it not cutting steel at all, or cutting really inconsistently somehow? Or I guess cutting really really slow. Anyone actually tried one?

I did. I even tried the razor too. They will cut metal, and possibly set bevels, but I learned the hard way. I am looking to buy a nice coticule to ad to my Nortons and Chinese 12K. It's cheaper in the long run to avoid anything that says Zeepk on it including strops, hones, or anything else. The hone I had was small and narrow which I found hard to use as a beginner and it certainly does not compare to any quality hone on the market. The best hone for a new person in my opinion is the Norton 4K/8K and to start with a professionally honed razor. I have achieved the HHT with the 8K norton, but now am becoming obsessed with trying to get the perfect shave. SO, I am looking for a Coticule, possibly the new 12K Naniwa or 16K shapton. I hope to get all three in in the future. I also want a Swaty because I have yet to read a bad review and I would like something to just run my blade over about 10 laps to touch up every few weeks. I say skip the Zeepk there are much better ways to save money on hones.
