* That makes a lot more sense! You know one or the other will send a great shaver that he knows, but this way because you know how yours has shaved, it will give you a more accurate opinion evaluating the other guys honing abilities.
Glen, you're all right (ever since you had your left side amputated).

Haha, I would be doomed to failure then!
But trading dull razors is actually a very good idea, it seems like this idea keeps evolving. Too bad I only have a few razors, of which none are dull. But I really like that idea, especially if they were originally sharp so the user knows how well they can perform.
I think I just found an excuse to buy more razors on ebay........

I truly appreciate the offer, thank you. I'm afraid I will have to turn it down though. I am not yet comfortable with the idea of honing someone else's razor. I don't really aspire to be a honemeister, so I don't plan on honing other people's razors for now.
What I actually would like to do is buy cheap blades that need fixing up, clean them up, hone them, then sell them. I can get good feedback on my honing then, without the worry of screwing up someone's blade.
Haha, no kidding. I'm not looking to buy on ebay for a while, my funds will not permit that at the present.

Funny. I have been thinking about posting an idea such as the original post for the same reason - for some feedback and benchmarks. I'm pretty sure I'm not in the same league as many (any) of the posters here, though.
I'm game for any variation of exchange/evaluation, etc. - just send me a PM if you are interested. Shipping is on me, of course. Note that I'm NOT an experienced honer; I definitely want to be upfront about this. At the same time, I think my edges work. I would love someone else's opinion on them.
Thanks,
Nate

If any of you want the help I can also evaluate a razor too. If you want I can evaluate it, then if its not what I consider great, I can hone it better, then describe exactly what I did to improve it. And if I can not improve it than I'll say that also. Makes sense?
I would do this as a PM, not in public.
Send a PM if anyone is interested. I rarely read through the posts anymore.

What a great idea!!
Last night, I touched up (couticle with water only for 20 laps, Ch12K, CrOx, linen, leather) a razor that used to be my hands-down best shaver.
For the first time ever this morning, I was pretty darned happy with the results (especially considering I didn't have too much growth this morning.)
I'm still no honemeister. I look forward to trying it out with a much duller razor this weekend, and seeing if I can get it shaving this well. If I can, I'd love to trade blades with someone.
