I would like to have my honing evaluated
Hey all,
So I'm at the point where I think I'm fairly adept at honing, but far from being a honemeister. I'm just wondering if one of the honing experts would mind me shipping a razor of mine to them so they could try it out and see how my honing measures up. I'd pay for shipping.
Would anyone like to help me out?
Thanks.

Thanked: 43Dave,
I'm no miester yet, but I am interested in becoming one some day. I think the idea of an exchange is wonderful.
I wouldn't mind sharing. I wouldn't mind sending you one of mine, either!

Thanked: 156I don't call myself a honemeister, but I'll volunteer my face for your experiments.

So I'm taking Tom (jendeindustries) up on his offer and we're trading a razor each just to try them out (I'd want it back though ). I purposed that instead of sending it directly back to me that maybe he could send it to someone else for another opinion. Leighton, since you volunteered, would this be possible?
I really like this idea now, as it gives people feedback as to how they're doing. No one I know shaves with a straight, so I've been the only critic of my honing. It would be interesting to see how my edges compare to others and vise-versa.

I had this same problem, so i lent a few out. I'd wanted to sell in the classifieds but wasn't prepared to 'till i'd had some feedback on shave readiness. Hope it goes well.

I'm prepared to make a standing offer for a face to test shave readiness. Good luck.

SRDave, have I got a deal for you!
I'll send you blade, you'll hone it and send it back, and I'll tell you you're awesome (if you are).
On a more serious note, I think that two aspiring honemeisters trading blades to test is a totally awesome idea. I plan to try to set it up once I get started honing.

Thanked: 13245Idea !!!!
Just a thought to improve on your already great idea guys...
If you trade dull razors, then each of you have an idea of the actual improvement over the starting point....
