Thread: 3m Cerium Oxide lapping film

I'd be interested to see how this performs against the diamond and aluminum oxide films I've been using.
When my last set of diamond films were worn out, I decided to try the aluminum oxide as a cheaper alternative down to .3 micron. I can say they put a scary sharp, mirror polished edge on anything. I've not met a razor that the film can't whip into shape.
I get mine from thor labs and for $30, I got 10 full sheets (13"x9") of 3, 1 and .3 micron films. I still use 6 micron diamond film to set the bevel, but that isn't hardly needed. They are all very fast cutters.

I received it yesterday and tried it on four razors so far. I shaved with one of them but it is too early to make a comparison that is objective. It seemed as smooth as the CrO but like I said more testing is necessary. You will notice the CeO has settled to the bottom of the bottle and starts settling soon after shaking but also mixes easily. You get a whole quart spray bottle so it should last for years.
My bill including shipping was $21.21 so it looks like shipping is about $12.

Thanked: 488BJ that's a huge bottle and pretty cheap even with the high shipping cost. It will be interesting to see how it works out over time when you can make a comparison with CroX. The diamond spray also has a tendency for the particles to drop to the bottom and requires you to shakes the bottle well before you use it
Thanks
