Based on this thread (and the stone's relative low cost), I too have ordered this honing stone. I hope to have the same success that others have gotten.

One tip, it made a world of difference with my Chinese 12k+. I smoothed it out, more so on the edges, but on the flats too. I have a DMT portable diamond stone, fine on one side and ultra fine on the other (red and green). It folds into a two piece handle sort of like a butterfly knife. Anyway, this diamond surface makes short work of the natural stone, and in no time I had all sides smooth and true and I used it to create a bevel on the edges. It came as a sharply cut rectangle. I highly suggest beveling the edges to prevent the stress fractures that my stone was riddled with upon arrival. Several chips and nicks on the edges and corners. Anyway, with a little time, it's much better now, and it took out the rough spots on the flats very easily. I guess with that kind of finishing it would have been an $80 stone vice $30. Easily enough done at home.
