Belgian blue and yellow coticule. Appologies for not knowing more than that but being new to this field... I was told this was what I would need for honing. The seller was very helpful.

Very nice job. I also saw Lynn's honing video and I adopted his method of using that webbed mat to lay the hone on. I picked a roll of the stuff up at the supermarket and it works well. I wouldn't hone in the box as the water won't do it any good.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Great job on the box! I think your finish work does justice to the "old" without overpowering it. Thanks for posting.

Ron: It's a bonded Coticule/BBW combo. A medium hardness coticule which will work well for all around coticule honing.

He placed the stone on a rubber mat of sorts and honed on the table or his lap, if I recall correctly... thanks for the tip though!
Even though you will hold the stone in hand when in use (out the box), I would still recommend you put rubber feet on the bottom of the box. Sometimes life happens... things may slide around without notice, Muphry's law and gravity never sleep...

Four small squares cut from an old mouse pad will do nicely.

    Have a good one.

I took a pic of the box before I sold the stone.

    WOW!!

That is a remarkable change to the box! I would not have seen the possible beauty of that one from the before pic...

    Excellent work to be sure.

Thanks for the before shot Chris... by the way, my description of the box earlier was no reflection on the quality of the package I was sold. I saw the hidden qualities of the box before I made the purchase. It is surprising what can be done.
On another note my razor arrived today! Oh boy what have I gotten into??!!...
