The TI paste is aluminum oxide, and I don't care for it. I think the chromium oxide leaves a similarly sharp edge but is smoother

Personally, I think the chromium oxide leaves a similarly sharp edge. but your paste mileage may vary

Would cronium ox refresh an edge, as well as ti paste when ineed of just touching up razor? After honing i use ch.5 on livi loom and have to say it is exallant stuff i've used .5 dp then ch.5 that also works realy well for me. I'm trying to replace the .5 dp with somthing similar as i have order from usa and i'm in uk and i can get ti paste so easy but by the opinions so far its not so good. I'm not keen on dovo paste tryed the red and it did'nt do any thing hardly.

Well just got my ti paste it went on my tm cotton easily. I used my ti silver wing that was shave ready but the new ti as always felt alittle harsh from new not in a bad way just not ultra smooth and i got it prehone by invisable edge. I have since only honed on coticule and ch.5 ox with great results . I did 25 laps on linen and realy the edge was smooth and glided exallant the other halve of my face i gave it 15 cro ox on livi loom as this paste is finer and the shave as good as it gets. This is my first time using ti paste i have used many paste i do make sure i can shave of hone and only then i will add paste for ultra glide . I like it and for £7.50 deliverd You carn't go wrong

    Hey Gary

Good thread, I was wondering the same thing about the TI paste, being based in the UK it does seem easy to get hold of than dp. I am currently using dp .5 and cro and looking for a replacement.

If you shaved of .5dp how does that compare to shaving of ti paste?

    Thanks

    Rob

    i have paddle 1.0 0.5 chr.5 i never used the 1.0dp.

I would say the 0.5dp similar. I prefer using the paste on strop canvas i have tryed on the paddle and canvas backing on strop it works hell of a lot better on hanging strop and is alot quiker and easier i' going to sell my tm paddle. I would say the issards paste works better it gave my razor a more sharper smooth edge i noticed the differance straight away the chap that recomended it to me has a seven day set he uses only issards paste and he says it keeps his razors sharp he only has to hone once a year he uses the paste 6 to 12 weeks between 7 razors. I've tryed dovo paste i would get some issards invisable edge sells it i would'nt put it on leather defanatly canvas i also will follow with cro ox as that is finer . Despite what i have heard and read up on you have to try your self but i would recomend it it is as good in my opinion if not better.

    Hey Gary

Thanks for the response. Where did you get the Livi loom from was it a europe based source? I am considering a travel strop paddle/loom so doing some research at the mo.

I got my paddle from tony miller in the states it is good for travel litigo for daily stropping and 1.0dp 0.5 dp cro.5 ox i'm going to sell if your interested I think i paid $40 dollars unpasted the paste were $16 each saringe i have 2 x0.5 and 2 x0.1dp nearly full and i can also add some spear cr ox powder delivery was $30 plus i had to pay some customs tax i would except £45.00 . I also have livi loom cost me 130 with box issard travel strop cost me £75 so i have to get rid of paddle as it does'nt see enough use.

So the TI paste arrived during last Wednesday and I lightly covered the canvas strop. Stropped my dovo special on the ti pasted canvas and the on plain leather. I found the resulting shave to be a bit sharper and smoother than the shave straight of my Naniwa 10k superstone. I am pleased with the result and will continue with this set up for the dovo special. As a side note I did not feel the need to strop on some cro ox or .5 diamond.

Over the next few weeks I will try the same treatment on my TI Le Grelot to see if it likes this new paste as well.
