I purchased some stropping felt and stropping leather from craftsmanstudio. Here is their site. Stropping Supplies

I made several bench hones using 1 and a 1/4" granite that I got from a local granite supplier. I had them cut the granite to the size of the stropping material using scraps of granite from their trash bin. The scraps were broken pieces for countertop back splash material. I applied the spray adhesive to the unpolished side of the granite and the back side of my stropping material. The thicker granite is heavy enough were is does not move when using the bench strop.

    Good luck.

I have some 0.5 diamond paste, a stiff felt sheet from Joanne fabrics, and some wood. Is it worthwhile making a bench hone to compare it to my CrOx balsa hone, or do I need thicker / different felt?

Link to the felt sheet: Stick It Felt Solid Color -MANY COLORS : Felt and Fur : Apparel Fabric : Fabric | Joann.com

Is it too difficult to apply the paste to felt? Should I have bought the spray instead?

My guess is spray would be easier--the paste might be trickier to rub around evenly on felt, unlike leather/balsa which are less porous.

OT, but the SRD 0.5 um spray on felt is on my "to buy" list for problem razors.

I just bought an SRD Hard Wool Felt and Herringbone Canvas Hanging strop for the Diamond spray. I use the .50 on the felt. I love it, It works great, puts a nice final finish on the blade. It's worth the money. I've tried .25 paste and don't like it, so I avoided the ..25 spray...
