Default Just picked up 2 hones

1 is a 'Bear brand' Norton 8"/2" or so in a wood box, white almost translucent oil stone, the other is pretty strange, I'll post pics tonight.

This Norton seems wicked fine, anyone have any experience with them?

I have several large Norton Oil Stones. 11 1/2 x 2 1/2. One side is coarse, the other fine. I have no idea what the grit is. I use them primarily on knives, swords, etc..Mostly larger blades. I'm sure they'd be fine for Str8's. The only thing is, I like to know the grit.

Yea what is the deal with the reddish one? I threw a old razor at it, seems harder/finer than I thought it was?

The arkansas stone is wicked nice, I paid $18 for both of them today.

Quote: "The Norton Bear Brand stones used to come in 3 types, the Silicon Carbide Crystolon, The brown India stone, and the ultra fine white coloured Arkansas stone for that last super razor finish."

Got this off the internet...hope this helps.
