Slurry produces a slightly rounded edge. Bart has a very good write up on honing w/ slurry. In it he dilutes the slurry as he go until he is using just water. The results are dependent on how thick a slurry you start with and how fast you dilute the slurry. Search for 'One Coticule Honing'. It take a bit more observation and practice to master IMHO.

I didn't know Glen had suggested this idea, but I stumbled upon it myself during the week and I found the edge of the razor to be more acceptable off the 8k. I should also mention that I shave right off the 8k without any higher grits or sprays or pastes. I just like to keep it simple, but the shaves I've gotten with this method are very excellent indeed.
