Thanked: 286I've tryed both of them and they both seemed about the same one side of my 3line american hone is slight coarser as it says on the instruction but the surface seems so smooth

Thanked: 286I should imagine he means full honing i no some people do this once aweek but for every shave it seems alot but if it works then its every one to the hone

I have no idea about blue ones. what i have 3 different 3 line barber hones and all of them are really fast cutting hones.
I have even tried set bevel with Australia 3 line one(i think) and it does work. i check the bevel very deep scratches it does forms. Try on dull blade at first and see what happen.
i agree with you barber hone could be same colors both side but different grits usually branded side will be the finest side.
Just take your time to learn them. hope this helps.

Zip is right in this case what he does his blade is a little dull now.
Before every shave he uses his barber hones 3 laps and goes to shave .gets great shave and next shave he does same thing. what this does he really never hones the blade just quick touch up 3 laps and move on.

i cannot edit message but will add in here.
Some barber hones you will see do have 2 different colors.
Some has only 1 color and it has only 1 grit.
Others will have same color and different grit on each side.
