    I tryed both my hones and checked under my200x microscope and there was no sign of deep scratches and no differance between the two and my coti with water was very similar if not same so they both must be fine i think

    it may be the case . Try check edge a little lower power. 200x will flatten the scratches so much you will see perfect bevel.

    When using the barber hone in this manner, do you strop after lapping on the stone or do you shave straight off of it?
