Thank you, thank you, thank you! But I believe you will find the majority of them above the 9k mark.

Thanked: 286it was just what some one told me i also realize they are meant to be used for touch ups
i would say this would touch a razor up with easy five strokes. I like my coticule for persnal reasons but one of these is all some would need for maintance surley

Most of my barber hones work well with about 5 laps. Sounds like you found a great buy. Congratulations.

I use a barber hone as my finishing hone around 90% of the time. After that some newspaper for 80 to 200 stropping laps. A hone doesn't need to be a slow cutter to make a good finishing hone.

Thanked: 286If your polishing you would'nt want a fast cutting barber hone in case you was to over hone i'm just guessing /how many laps do you do for final polish on barbers hone about 5 to 10?

Gary this is just learning process and we all in it including myself may be the front runner to learn as much as i can.
i have used barber hone after 8k norton and Coticule. Name of the hone is frictionate 00 with great results.dry.
I should say you will find a lot finer barber hones out there. one of them is a panama hone i would put grit level approximatley12-16k level.
they are so many barber hones and takes a lot time to learn them. After looking for 4 years i finally find norton barber hone . haven't tried it yet but will test it soon and post picture of it.

Gary, I use a Barber hone prior to every shave, just 3 lapps usually, it keeps me from honing for quite a while....
