Default My world is going flatter

Walking down the street I passed a glass shop.
I wondered what some flat tempered plate glass bits might
cost so I walked in and asked.

A week later and 35 bucks later I had these
three 4"x14" 3/8" thick flats. Since the minimum
order was $25 I went for three.

Six sides gives me a lot of choices for grit to apply.
If I can grock this tool see below for a pix.

Sounds like a nifty idea. I trust that the edges are beveled to avoid nasty cuts? Let us know how it works for you.

I use a 3" x 8" piece with newspaper wrapped around it all the time at home. Works great. When traveling, I wrap the paper around a lapped barber hone.

    Yes the edges are beveled...

So far so good. I already discovered a problem with the spine/ back of
one problem razor. I took a marker to both the spine and the blade
of the razor and found a problem that I am gently working on. Not so much
a smile but for sure a grin on the blade.

I note that some folk have had trouble finding
abrasive films to use with glass plates.

I found a local store that carries "Pinnacle Honing Film"
    that works for me (Woodcraft.com).

The 15 micron film was 3M-468L micro finishing film
and set a bevel nicely on a problem razor.

The 0.3 micron film was not labeled but as quickly
as it turned grey it cuts just fine.

    Three strips in a pack....
My glass is 14" long so I have a perfect
    match with their 14"x2.75" product.

Anyhow if looking for abrasive film to use with
flat glass look for PinnacleŽ Honing supplies as
    an option.
