if you are planning to make traditional looking scales by yourself, you should check if there's any knifemakers or handicraft shops around, as they usually sell horn or horn plates as well as bones too. Reindeer and moose bones and horns are used to make knife handles here.

im found of wood myself, but the peening seems to be the biggest issue.
Maybe it is that i didnt get the right kind of pinning material, or maybe i just dont have the touch for delicate work(tried 99% silver tread)
I will probably find some decent scale material on a local market event, but thats not happening till fall

I've used for pinning copper nails and brass wire (sold in RC stores). Very easy material to work with. You have to heat brass until its goes red; it softens and then it is very easy to work with.

There are few members in Norway already who might be willing to hone some of your razors. Maybe ask them.
I could do also, but it is always cheaper and easier to get it done there. Honing and sharpening is not a rocket science, so why not do it by yourself?

true there are members close by theres atleas 3 i could reach after work.
The amount of work i require is probably cheaper shipping it out of the country, as return shipping atleast would be about the same.
But ofcourse if one of the ones close to me would be willing to do one to get me by while i wait, i wouldnt argue

doing it myself hmm ive been trying a while 1 i dont have the equipment yet 2 i use too much pressure 3 i cant seem to get them evenly sharp
