Thanked: 40The ones at SRD are 10mm, but come with the base. The 20mm does not. Personal preference applies here.

Thanked: 2591eBay Store: Search results for Japanese tools metalmaster.
some of his stones are with 5 bucks flat rate, some are with stated shipping, but you can get them with SAL which is free, but takes some time to get to you.
The guy also has nat stones from time to time. He is very reputable, and while his Nakayama @ $68 will not be the finest stone ever, it will be better than the 330mate stones on e-bay. The one that he has left also has a partial stamp so it might be a decent stone??
EDIT:
I just looked closely at his shipping rates, he changed his SAL rates so they are now $5 worldwide instead of free of charge.Last edited by mainaman; 01-07-2010 at 02:55 PM.

OFF TOPIC
So you've used a bunch of his naturals and a bunch of 330mate's naturals and a bunch of "good" naturals to make a comparison between stones from various sources then? I'd love to see pictures of the hones and a writeup of your experiences with them. Here isn't really the place, but maybe you could start a new thread or two.

Thanked: 2591I do not remember saying anything like that please refresh my memory if I did.
I merely stated that @ 68 bucks you will get at least the same as you get from 330mate EBAY store.
Takeshi has a very good reputation , that the Nakayama has a partial stamp so it might be a quality stone, but with naturals you never know. By the way there was another stone 2 days ago pinkish in color but someone bought it already.
As far as the stones I have tried, I have tried 330mate ebay special, it is useful for before final finisher stone. I have a Narutaki Suita that is very fine but I want to see if I can get finer Nakayama. I am getting Asagi from So(its on its way) and that should be the best finisher I can get for my price range.
As far as writing about experience, I think this is a great idea, my big problem I can't take pics of my edges.Last edited by mainaman; 01-07-2010 at 06:24 PM.

I've never used sandpaper but certainly a lot of guys have and do. I got a DMTC 325 continuous plate early on and a GDLP later. Either of those do a fine job. I also picked up a DMTXX 120 plate and it eats waterstones and barber hones for breakfast but leaves a bit of a coarse surface. Good to start a lapping job and finish with the 325.
A friend has the more expensive of the Naniwa lapping plates and loves it but I haven't tried one. Here is a tutorial by Josh Earl on lapping in case you haven't seen it.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
