Thanked: 480That coti is so unbelievably dished, its taking forever! Since I am both bored and patient, I have been wetting the DMT, raising the slurry, wiping the slurry off into a container, rinse, repeat!
when I am done, I will probably leave it sit out for a while, and evaporate the water leaving behind only the dust.

you must be very patient. Or very bored ^^
Japanese polishers tend to do something similar.
They collect dust from their finest polishing stones like uchigomori do
and save it for cleaning. They sprinkle some of the powder called uchiko on a sword
and whipe it off gently.
So it´s probably not a bad idea

You should try lapping a Barber's hone, it has to be one of the hardest hones known to man....Once you get your Coti flat you may want to finish it with some 1000 grit wet sandpaper....It really puts a nice surface on the stone....

Awhile back Utopian and ChrisL turned me on to the DMTXX. Great for lapping barber hones or anything else that is extremely hard. When I run into a tough lapping job I start with that and then finish it of with the DMTC.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
