where are the teeth and fins? I expected to see a shark
That is a very interesting write-up, Robert. Thanks for sharing it. I didn't think there would be such a strong visual difference from the linen and plain leather stropping as there wasLast edited by hoglahoo; 05-26-2010 at 03:54 PM.

Yes great photos.
People often forget most metal is a combination of different elements and if you have enough mag you begin to see the actual grains of the differents elements in the mix. The better the metal the finer the grain amongst other things. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Hi Papabull, would you mind telling me if the canvas/leather strop (besides the one tagged as Cr2O3)
has been treated with some kind of polishing agent, like dovo white for canvas?
I wonder because I yet had to find a leather actually improving the polish (ie the appearance) of the bevel (even at higher magnification).
Another thing that wonders me:
the Cr2O3 treated strop is a paddle strop, right?
How many laps did you do, to actually cut a secondary bevel and why do you think it appeared in the first place?
Did the paddle have much "give"?

Thanked: 39Jimmy thanks for sharing the post.
Robert thank you for making it.
Guys just think what some of our edges look like after we hone them up and pat ourself on the back. Thinking our beloved hone was the greatest edge maker.
Robert I think you also showed how important it is to keep your strop uncontaminated since it is the last thing our blade touchs before our face.
Now I know why I used to hate the barber to shave my neck when I was a kid. Their barber book only recomended 6 passes on the strop to be shave ready.
