    Default What IS pyramid

    I looked for it on the site but it's filled with jargon and I'm not quite experienced enough to fully grasp it. Could anyone explain it to me?

    Its a simple progression of honing, a series if you will on low grit, then high grit COMBINED to create an edge. Say one pass on a 4K grit followed immediately by 3 passes on 8K grit. We describe the ascent like this. 1/3 . . .

    Then we will describe the progression like this ...

    1/3
    1/3
    1/3
    1/3
    2/5

    Notice the last 2/5 at the end, thats 2 laps using 4K and 5 laps using 8k.

    We test shave during the process, in the later stages after each step.

    An actual pyramid is in the honing section of the Archive files. I have only provided an example, not a real pyramid progression.
