Thread: escher price ??

shaved of escher with with 50 laps on very light slurry after 12k, very hard to say there was a big differance because shave of 12k was very good. i would say my first time and the shave seemed smoother and was still very nice shave. certanley sharp and certanly nice and smooth. so my progression was coti dilucot plus 12k naniwa then 50 laps on escher with lather as recomended. the result was very nice and smooth shave with out any paste. i was very impressed with 12k btw and i don't think there was much to improve on by using escher. my first time i tryed this progression i will be trying lots more on differant razors

Here are some other data points for Escher price ranges. Over the past two years, I've bought two Eschers. One was an unlabeled Y/G Escher in a wooden box from a trusted private seller for $350. The other was a labeled but un-boxed Escher off eBay last November for only $160, which I still consider a great bargain. I don't know the color code(?) of the eBay Escher, other than "gray," just like my other one.

Escher color names really make no sense to me at all, but I love to see pictures of them anyway. I've only seen one picture of a Yellow/Green Escher that truly looked yellow/greenish in color to me, and it went for over $500 on eBay. Most of them just look like shades of gray to me, but many Eschers do seem to have a fairly distinctive texture and light reflection in person and in photographs.

The word I like to think of in describing their color is "hue". The first time I ever got my hands on a yellow/green it was strikingly that. Since then I've seen others but never any as striking as this one. I've also got a blue/green that has that sort of iridescent hue to it when wet. I guess most people would see a gray rectangular rock but to lovers of hones they are really pretty.
