    I generally try not to shave off anything larger than a small bump.

    8k is about as low as I would go, not that I would want to.

    Iam going to shaving of the 1k nani tonite, then the 5k nani, then the 8k nani, just to see the diff.

    I tried 6000 Kai quite successfully but the 8000 Kasumi was far more comfortable.

    I did try shaving off a 3k Naniwa but that really wasnt comfortable at all. It removed hair but it definately wasnt what I would call a comfortable shave..!

    After the 8k Naniwa the shave was much improved. I could probably live quite happily with the shave off that stone, but going higher to the 12k and natural finishers definately adds to the smoothness of the shave.

    I used an 8K Norton, and before that a two sided barber hone, all with linen and leather stropping, for a long time until I stumbled upon this #^$*@#! web site.
