I bought an 827 Ill. strop and put the ce-ox on the leather. After i do 10 laps on diamond felt then 10 laps on Cr-ox felt, then 15 on Ce-ox leather,50 linen,100 leather.

Smile Questions - application to felt

Some think it works finer and faster than Chromium Oxide, but most of us only have our subjective experiences to back this up. In my mind, Cerium Ox is as fine as it gets. True or it, it's the highest grit tool in my shed.
    Thanks Justin,
Some of this stuff comes in powder form (Glen has his in solution of sort, it seems).

    My questions:

    1) How do you apply this on the felt? Do you mix with something (water, I presume...since oil will not be a good idea on felt) and then apply evenly to felt?

    2) Before/after which routine/progression do you use CeOx (0.5µ CrOx, 0.5µ Dia spray felt or else)?

I've found slightly soapy water works well to apply/disperse it on both leather and felt.

Cerium would be the finest and last compound you'd use of those listed, ie diamond, chromium, then cerium.
Remember to clean the blade well between stages if using multiple compounds to avoid cross-contamination.
