Cerium Oxide
I was wondering where I could get some Cerium Oxide, a small amount. I don't need much, just enough to do a strop or two... I've heard talk that quality matters, and I'm not sure who has the "good" stuff. I've seen it on Amazon, but I'd have enough to do everybody's strop on this forum 2x....
Any help would be appreciated....
Thanks....Last edited by zib; 08-13-2010 at 10:56 PM.

Any shop that sells lapidary supplies will have it. It's commonly used as a stone polish.

Thanked: 12I've far more good quality cerium than I could ever use, and would be happy to send you some for the cost of the postage.
As mentioned above, it's prettily readily availabe, and me being in OZ probably makes it cost prohibitive, but if you can't sorce cheap locally lob me a pm and I'll send you some.
cheers

Material to use with CeOx
What do you guys apply this CeOx to? Felt, linen or leather? Does one material offer distinct advantages over another? I use .5µ CrOx now and I am wondering if this would complement or replace the CrOx and/or .5µ diamond spray

I put it on felt and I like how it works when and if I need it.
Some think it works finer and faster than Chromium Oxide, but most of us only have our subjective experiences to back this up. In my mind, Cerium Ox is as fine as it gets. True or it, it's the highest grit tool in my shed.
