i think its personal choice, i would of of thought after such a fine stone the edge should be very smooth. And not need any paste. thats the case with my coticule.

I dont have an Asagi but I do have a Maruichi, and my J-Nat basically rendered my pasted strops redundant!

I just go right from the stone to my daily strop and the shave is awesome.

If the stone is fine enough you do not need the CrO .

+1 If it’s good one. Finish on the Asagi with final H2O only pass very light 7 to 12 stokes. Should be very light strokes H2O only. Did I say very light strokes? Think of a feather. Be one with the feather. That light of a stroke. That's how Sham taught me.

Depends on the razor steel too. You can do a few passes on the CrOx if you want. Light passes. Feather thing again. I'm at work and I need more coffee. It’s a personal preference. Hope this helps.

I feel that if you are going to use paste after your Nakayama, you might as well sell it and use the money for something else.

At that point you are not shaving with a nakayama edge any more.

Another + 1 to that. I like to shave with the edge I get off of the Escher or coticule.
