Thanked: 235USB revels disappointment
I've been playing with my usb microscope and doing a bit of honing. I decided to have another go at this Bengall that I have put aside a wile ago. Imagine my disappointment when I saw this.
At best I think I am going to have to do a lot of bevel setting to get past the swiss cheese pitting.

Wow.. That's nasty. How far in on the razor does it go? Is it only on the very edge of the .. eh.. edge?

I had a Wostenholm Pipe that looked just like that. It was already a touch under 5/8 so it was toast.

A sad sight indeed, for any razor but especially a Bengall

Toast? why?
I have a Bengal that by the shank size used to be at least 6/8's it is no a 4/8 at best and by the scales it used to by about a half inch longer too. I figure at some point it gt dropped, chipped, and cracked therefore someone re-ground it right down to the toothpick it is today. It is still a great shaver and it holds and edge forever.

Thanked: 3795This is a perfect example of why a microscope is so helpful for bevel setting. I never bother looking under the scope after the bevel but I never leave the bevel setting without checking under the scope.

It doesn't look like it'll take much work to sort that out. Unless that is a massive bevel.
