Of course, that's probably because I never looked for one.

As long as the nogura is softer than the hone medium it won't harm it but I really don't see the advantage of using a nogura on the Norton. It might just load up the hone. Maybe on some of the really fine artificial stones like 12K and up it might be more appropriate but I'm no expert. I've only used a nogura on a 12K japanese stone and personally I've never noticed a difference in the honing process whether I used the nogura or not.

Thanked: 2204I only use a nagura on the Norton 4000 and then only when I am removing nicks or old steel. After that point I wash off the slurry because the 4000 cuts so fast.

I use the natural Nagura on the Coticules and Eschers and like it. Have never tried the natural Nagura on the Norton 8K. I am going to assume that it will work. Any comments? Does anyone know the difference between the natural and synthetic Nagura?

Thanked: 2204The nagura will make the Norton 8K cut faster but the edge is, in my opinion, not quite as fine. I really see no need to make the Norton 8K cut faster. It can be almost to fast for some razors without the nagura.

Don't tell me I should be using a Nagura stone! What's the benefit there? I can get the edge with water alone.
