Thanked: 13234Hmmmm those Prep Stones or Artificial Naguras are much better for creating a cutting slurry, as they release their own grit...
For a finishing slurry you really want that DMT you have, yes they do get a bit sticky on the 10K and 12k Naniwa's... I would invest $16.95 into a extra stone holder for it, rather than the $13.95 for a Norton Prep stone... The stone holder will make it easier to handle and last forever...
Another alternative is a small low quality Arkansas stone, they have them as knife sharpeners at many sporting goods stores,, they release very little grit and raise a nice slurry...Last edited by gssixgun; 01-16-2011 at 12:17 PM.
