Wow that is one ugly frown!! Sure glad this wasn't on a great razor
I've found that Hoppe's number 9 gun solvent works great cleaning off the gunk from the tape and does not stain the razor. Just put some on a patch and wipe the crud off when done.

I would say the spine is warped... or it was. You seem to have flattened it out. Or you used finger pressure when honing only on one side.
One thing that is a worry . It looks like you've been honing on the top of the stabiliser or it may be the light ( top pic)
Regardless there is not much breathing space left in that edge till the stabiliser starts to interfere with honing.
Helluva challenge for a new guy

It can be done with the 1k/8k too, with a little trick. Set the bevel with the 1k as good as you can, add 2 layers of tape, do 15-20 light laps on the 8k, strop and shave. Not the traditional way, but it can be done. If the edge is not there yet, do 5-10 more laps until there. Touch up the edge on a pasted strop so that you don't have to tape the spine every time. Or you can do the 1 stone honing on the 8k, but IMO thats a bit trickier to do, but you don't have to tape that much if thats a problem for you.

    That is not a frown.
You don't need to use any solvent to clean tape gunk off of a razor. All you need is the tape that was pulled off of the razor. Dab the sticky side of the tape against the gunk and it will be pulled right off.

Hoppes is quicker and cleans also IMHO
What would you call it? Spine warp that caused an upside down smile?

if you are just training then go head do what you like to do. if your plan to make this razor shave ready and get a good shaves from it Sorry forget about it.
From pics it seems like does have a good warped.(this is from pics not clear pics one side of the bevel)
one side doesn't have any hone wear compare other.
this makes me say in fact you have warped blade. Now in warped blade you should have hone wear another side of the blade in the heel and tip opposite to other side?
seems like again you don't have that ether?
    confusing blade .
Anyway blade is very low quality blade.
    have fun .

Fine, go ahead and call that a frown, but no one will know what you are talking about.

Based on the pics I would actually say that the spine isn't warped. If it was warped then on the backside of the blade you would see wider bevel areas in the toe and heel region, which you don't see. I think this blade has just been subject to too much pressure on the middle of the spine while honing, however it appears like this is only the case for when honing the front of the blade.

While the edge may be straight, I'm afraid that this blade looks like toast. If you want to practice more before getting to cherished family heirlooms (which I would suggest), there are a number of razors that can be picked up for $10-15 on ebay that would work, though you need to know what to look for (i.e. not much spine wear, no pitting near the edge, etc.)

The heel does look wider on the pile side. A warp is not necessarily an even banana shape but uneven grinding can play a part too.
