Then you're definitely using too much pressure towards the end of honing, on each stone. I will run you through my procedure (I learned the general process at the last Mid MO meet from Lynn). To set the bevel on the 1k I do 20-30 circles on each side with a lot of pressure. I would hazard about 10 pounds of force? Once I have visually inspected the edge to make sure you sides meet (if they don't, more circles) I do 10 laps with still relatively heavy pressure, but less than with the circles. If the blade can take a little arm hair off I do 20 circles with absolutely no pressure on each side, then 6-10 laps with no pressure. More often than not, by this point the arm hair can be shaved pretty easily.

After I KNOW the bevel is set, by using the arm hair test, I move to pyramids on the 4k/8k Norton from an initial lap count of 10. This I do with only the weight of the blade as pressure. By the end of my pyramid I can feel a noticeable difference in smoothness on the AHT.

To finish I use either a coticule, or a Chinese finisher. The coti is just water, but the Chinese I make a slurry and every 10 laps I dilute it with a couple sprays of water until I have done about 40 laps total. Then I rinse the stone off and do 10 with only water.

The question is how it shaves arm and leg hair. Try it real slow with hardly any skin contact. Does the razor drop the hair on the spot ? Or does it grab & pull before cutting, which is what I suspect. Its possible you may have a bevel but the razor is not finished. if the razor just bends the hair without cutting you may not even have a bevel. You know what it's doing but you don't know why. For me I find visual aids help & a loupe or a scope can help take the mystery out of problems.. Also a properly honed blade to compare your work to gives you a yardstick.

With a blade that's not warped or twisted, and a straight spine of constant thickness:

. . . the width of the bevel depends on the thickness of the blade near the edge.

So a blade which has been ground with varying thickness along its length (from toe to heel) will have a bevel that varies in width. But (as Onimaru says) it will shave just fine if the two faces of the bevel meet in a sharp edge.

Not having a yard stick or any kind of measuring device at all kind of hangs me up. I just have 3 blades all of varying quality and sharpness. NUN2SHARP has been kind enough to take these blades from me and give them some proper attention. I suppose I'll stop posting the hell out of you guys until I get them back from him and have an opportunity to ruin them again. =) Thanks for a ton of help!!!

You can always use a DE blade to calibrate your hair slicing tests. I t will give you some point of reference till your blades return.
btw Ya better not ruin Nun's work . I hear he has a hell of a kick

So first part is done. The guy that sold me the Fromm is sending me another one. Once I get the new fromm i'm sending all three to Nun2Sharp to have him put on an edge that I'm going to try to duplicate. I'd like to give big props to the fella that sold me the blade, HE'S BEEN AWESOME!! So here is his info, if you don't already have a hook up on stuff and are looking, I have zero qualms about recommending this dude.

If you want to try to duplicate Nun's work, the best course of action would be to let him work on two and use the other to work on.

That's the plan!! He has all three of them and is going to show me what can be done with them. Mostly to set the goal for me and my stones.
