i wouldn't go against Ron's idea But i think the easiest way to remove the residue is not using DARN TAPE.

Thanks guys, I use tape on mine and am always trying to get the darn residue off. I'll try this method out soon.

I like Glens idea -I also use Ace tape,and its really thin so changinging the geometry isnt a problem and your spine stays pretty,and if done at the full moon it leaves no residue..I dont know why......
