Default What I learned at the Rocky Mountain Meet

Huge Thank you to Glenn for sharing his expertise in Denver last weekend.

I went for a hair cut and talked about straight razors with my barber. He showed me a couple of his. This Bismark had some issues. With my new knowledge, I offered to work on it for him. Using the DMT 325 to do the initial work, then setting the bevel with a Norton 1K and working through 4K , 8K and my Swaty, it went from sorry to shave ready in about an hour. I shaved with it this morning.

What a great feeling to have some success on a razor that started pretty rough!Name: before 4x6.jpg

From what I can see in the picture, that looks like a really nice even and clean bevel. Nice work!

I've been to a couple of meets with Glen. Lots to learn from that man and so far everyone that I have met at the meets. Honestly its too much to learn in one day, make sure you remember to go year after year.

What a great job on that razor. It definitely has some issues and the way you solved the problems without beating up the rest of the razor. I am jealous of the lessons you learned and hands on training from the master himself.

    Hi Coloshaver,

    Nice save on that razor!

There is nothing like seeing and hearing a razor that is being honed by someone that knows what they are doing. Looks like you are taking it to the street! Good going!

    Take Care,

I had no idea there was a meet in Denver. I just bought some hones and would have loved to have been there.
