What exactly do you want to do, and what stones are you looking at?

Since you are in the honing section, not the workshop, I'm assuming you mean major bevel resetting/chip removal/frown removal/ etc. I personally do most of that on my Chosera 1k (often with a slurry of some sort), but drop to a (well broken in) DMT 325 if things get really serious. I can't imagine going much lower, but even if you do, nothing should be that expensive. Unless it's just because you are in Australia.
