If they're out of the 5k, just get the 3k, smile and enjoy your honing.

I've actually got naniwa 1,2,3,5,8,12 & I would recommend the 3K over the 5K anyways. WHy? On your chosera you are setting the bevel as we all know. At 3K there is still a bit of fine tuning the bevel, IMO. Above 3K all you are really doing is polishing & smoothing everything out with the Nani's...again...IMO. Think about it...they sell the Naniwa 3/8K combination stone for a reason.
