    Default Honing a smile.

Ok I am attempting my first smiling edge. I am so excited. Any tips you guys might have? I will be using Naniwa 1k, 5k, 8k, and 12k and plan to use a swooping X stroke. The reason I am starting with the 1K is there is some minor rust on the edge itself mostly at the toe. I also noticed that the edge is uneven at the heel, so I will be resetting the bevel.

use a magic marker to figure out what stroke works best to get the bevels in contact with the stone.

OMG I spent nearly half an hour looking for those videos. Couldn't remember who did them. Thanks a million.

When you hone a smile, the whole world smiles with you.

Just a little update so far. The edge was very nasty. It has taken me about an hour so far to get the edge even close to being even. I do think I may get to shave with it tonight. And Thanks for the tip mainaman it is requiring a swooping X. And if Glen decides to stop by this post thanks for taking the time to do the videos, most helpful.
