Thanked: 10question about naniwa 10k
Hi all,, I just have a simple question i hope someone can give an answer,,, Can I use the naniwa 10k instead of the naniwa 12K for refreshing the edge of my razor?? would that make a big difference??

I would say absolutely! Anything above 8K is more technique than grit related. The final stropping is what really tweaks the edge to shave ready. I doubt most advanced users could tell the difference between the 10 or 12k stones if they were blind folded.

ledemon,
Since my cat broke my Naniwa 12k (don't ask!), I have been using my Naniwa 10k with superb results; use either and you will be happy
Have fun !
Best regards

I'd like to point out that those naniwas are not the same. The naniwa 12k is from their superstone series, while the 10k is from their chosera series. The 10k costs around 3-4 times as much as the 12k. They really are quite different animals.

I have had the Chosera 10k and still have the Superstone 10k in my rotation. Personally I liked the SS10k better, but that´s pure personal preference. As already mentioned, anything beyond the 8k mark has the potential to work as a final finisher for razors. The Chosera is of high quality and should produce very keen edges, given you have the right skillset. You could add a felt strop or similar with a nice fine paste, like 0.5µm diamond. That would be absolutely sufficient for a 100% perfect shave. If you are not getting any, either practice more or check if your lower setup is faulty
