True Honing ?????
I was talking to a friend who is new to SR shaves and bought a razor off fleabay. He said the razor had been True Honed like I would know what he was talking about. He said their web site says they use True Honing and its a patented process. He couldn't remember the seller's name. Has any of the experienced honers on here ever heard of this method or is it a gimmick?

Thanked: 1371Yeah. It's a B.S. marketing term meaning "I finish razors on a Japanese stone"
I'd like to know the patent number.Last edited by HNSB; 02-16-2012 at 04:34 AM. Reason: To be nicer.
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Ah yeah, that's from the same 'master' with 'decades of honing experience' who came to SRP a couple years ago wet behind the ears having absolutely no idea about razors and honing. I think he ended up getting banned from every shaving forum out there as well.
Yeah, the same person who made a whole website with fake stories and feedbacks on his honing from supposedly 'happy customers'.
Unbelievable what people would do when they can't compete based on merit alone.

Thanked: 3164I know of the guy - a consumate liar and spreader of that substance that emanates from the rear ends of bulls. He is currently making a great nuisance of himself on the Artisan Shaving website. I even found recommendations for his website made by - wait for it - himself. Of course, the recommendations were made by one of his earlier incarnations before he decided to call himself 'Master Lee' (which was promptly dropped after an enormous amount of ridicule) in a futile attempt to obfuscate self-promotion. He is in his third incarnation now as just plain old Lee.
Regards,
Neil

To be frank its a piece of good marketing in so much as you are trying to put your product across as offing something above and beyond the competition. Almost every business does that, i.e. no business ever says - hey were all much of a muchness we are no better than them but then they are no better than us either. In most circumstances that is the case but the public will tend to put their faith in the person who states their own abilities the loudest.
The reality though is that True Honing is just a gimmick and there is no reason for his edge to be superior to any other experienced honer.Regards
Nic
