Hey, not sure if anyone else has said anything I'm about to so if I'm going on about what you already know ignore me! It seemed from what you said all you needed was a touch up ie 20-30 laps with just the weight of the blade (thats what i do) on a finisher to bring the shaving edge back. I'd say going to slurry has taken the edge backwards and you now need to go through the grits to bring it back. I know a little bit about the hones you have (but not a great deal) so couldn't say the best progression to use. What I would Say is that IMO natural hones are harder to get the hang of and a set of naniwa super stones would probably be better, I have naniwas and a la petit Blanche coticule, I can easily get HHT 3 from the naniwas and after a strop HHT 4 whereas on the coticule im still having a bit of difficulty. Have a look on www.coticule.be there is loads of info about natural hones and some guys with bags of experience that will help you out.
