I'm not sure about 20-40 on diamond since I don't use diamond spray. I guess a lot would depend on the size of the particles. 20-40 on crox sounds like a whole lot. I've heard that 10-ish strokes on a crox pasted balsa plank will go a long way toward refreshing an edge. That said, 10 on crox ate my lunch.

Yes, IMO and IME, 20-40 on crox is going to cook your edge and make it feel really scratchy and will cause tugging.

So.. You were shaving off of your 8k fine, as part of JaNorton. Then you reset the bevel on 1k and started again?

I would try to replicate your JaNorton results before adding in the other stones. Maxing out the 8k edge really makes your finishing stones/pastes shine.

I Have had a similar problem and found that I dont need Cro Ox or Diamond . Cloth and leather give me a great shave right off my stones. I tried both the cro and diamond with 20- 30 passes then smartened up and used 5-8 passes. Needless to say less is more and none at all was best for me.
