Thanked: 51I'm not sure about 20-40 on diamond since I don't use diamond spray. I guess a lot would depend on the size of the particles. 20-40 on crox sounds like a whole lot. I've heard that 10-ish strokes on a crox pasted balsa plank will go a long way toward refreshing an edge. That said, 10 on crox ate my lunch.

Thanked: 1262So.. You were shaving off of your 8k fine, as part of JaNorton. Then you reset the bevel on 1k and started again?
I would try to replicate your JaNorton results before adding in the other stones. Maxing out the 8k edge really makes your finishing stones/pastes shine.

I Have had a similar problem and found that I dont need Cro Ox or Diamond . Cloth and leather give me a great shave right off my stones. I tried both the cro and diamond with 20- 30 passes then smartened up and used 5-8 passes. Needless to say less is more and none at all was best for me.
