Thanked: 30Question: the c12k stone I have is narrower by 1/3 than any of the stones I've seen above. Will that cause me a problem? Keep in mind I'm nowhere near ready to use it...

Could you standardize the process by asking that everyone finish on an 8k stone before going to the C12K?

If you can I would like everyone to use the Norton 4k/8k as the progression towards finishing with a C-Nat, but as long as everyone finishes with a complete C-Nat edge the results will still be informational.
So if you can try to use the Norton 4k/8k as your progression, but if you can't it won't exclude anyone.

Take a pencil and draw a grid pattern on the side you want to lap/flatten. Then lay some sand paper on a flat surface, 225 grit seemed to be the best for getting it done faster for me without scratching it up too much. When the pencil grid pattern is completely gone you know it's flat and level. Then to polish the surface you can do the same with 600 grit or 1000, then I use the slurry stone (thats the same as my c-nat) to polish it up and make a slurry at the same time.
