    When you breadknife, and by the sounds of it quite a bit, you're in for a show.

    The edge will usually come back to the middle of the blade first, specifically if it's got any kind of smile to it. The swooping X stroke is going to be a good tool here, and cant the heel forward. You'll also put a tonne of honewear on it. I suggest a layer of tape.

    Another option is to hone with the spine off the stone at 45 degress, drop to 20 or so, drop to three layers of tape, drop to one layer of tape.

    Get comfy. Pressure circles and swooping X's. Pop in a movie and enjoy, I think it'll take you a while.

    Now you will know to not breadknife a razor before exploring other easier alternatives first.
    Still good experience gained IMO.

    If you want to hone a razor, hone it.
    If you want to make a breadknife, breadknife it.

    Experience is the best teacher, hands down. We can talk about bread knifing and honing or stropping, but until you start performing these actions, it's just talk.

    There are razors that I breadknife, and those that I don't. It's a case by case basis.

    I think it's good that you took something down to the rocks, and then got the edge back. Now, it's just something else that you'll have in your back of knowledge and tricks.

    I feel for you. I'm currently working on a W&B wedge that came to me from ebay breadknifed. I have around two hours in it right now. About an hour ago I checked a map to see how far i'd have to drive to punch the guy in the face.

    Breadknifing = Restoration

    It isn't "Honing" until the pre-bevel is re-established, then you start honing, if you try and hone a breadknifed edge with SR honing techniques you are just wasting time and probably steel...

    One punch isn't enough, but I'd refrain from punching in the first place. I hone with my hands, I need them. Kick him in the shins instead! You don't hone with your feet.
