I am in the school of thought that HHT has very little to do with shaving comfort. I have received blades from honemeisters that I could not perform HHT with, and they shaved well. I have honed a razor and finished on diamond paste; It passed HHT3 but the shave was uncomfortable.

I've said it before but I am of the school of thought that it means nothing to the end user and is only of use to the honer with hair that they know what to expect from it.

Hello all,
I have try few new options: new (old because they are vintage but new in my collection) strops and some of purchased in 2009-2012 (I will not disclose names) and I have one note after all test done. All vintage strops and HHT is the way to go for me (my personal statement, personal preferences). I did 100 and more tests with new honing for already honed razors, stones grades and all was improved to outstanding HHT level by ONE factor: two vintage strops. After this two 150 years old strops HHT was at level HHT4-6. With new strops (2009-2012) I got HHT3-4. Why... don`t ask me as I don`t have any idea why this difference exist.Last edited by proximus26; 09-04-2012 at 09:30 PM.

I just ordered two cases of vintage strops. They are NOS, I hope that is still okay. If the animal is pretty old it's made from, does that count?
