Thread: Rounding a Square

I am about ready to throw in the towel on my square points.
The only real cut I have was the first attempt with a square and since then I have managed
a couple of nicks and two earlobes but every time one of these threatening little bad boys
is in my hand I have close calls.

SO how do I round a square in the manner which it might be squared once again someday with the least amount of metal honed?
I haven't found much here on the boards.

I use a DMT 325 but most any stone can work...

Put the razor edge down, at a 45 degree angle to the stone only the spike touching, draw the razor back across the stone while raising the the blade to vertical...Use no downward pressure and repeat until the desired blunting it done,, Strop

If that doesn't make perfect sense STOP and I will take some pics or a Vid and show you tomorrow morning

Should I use my Norton 220 or 1000 for this? Or maybe a crystalon stone?

I have done it with a $1 Harbor Freight carborundum paving stone....doesn't take much stone it is more in the angle and the depth of cut. A few passes is all it takes.
