Thanked: 0Honing this
This is little out of my budget, but really beautiful:

The most interesting aspect is the shape of the blade: concave one side and flat the other.
How to hone this kind of blade?

That razor is gorgeous.
I'm not sure I understand your question, though. The blade edge looks very straight to me, maybe a slight smile. It would probably hone very easily.
It could be some distortion from the photos is creating an illusion.

No the grinds are different. Looks like single concave on one side and wedge on the other. It should still hone the way a regular razor does but you'd need to remove lots of metal on the wedge-side.

Thanked: 0Yes, the grinds are different, but one side is flat, and the other seems hollow ground, really strange....

Thanked: 346It's gonna be tricky to shave with. As for honing, you would hone it like a japanese razor (which have the same style grind, though they tend to be 1/4 hollow). You only hone the concave side.

Doh. Missed the different grinds. I thought Raga was referring to the edge...

Thanked: 9Last time I posted about something like this I was told it's a microscope cutter, not a razor. People cut frogs with these babies
Tony H sent me mine as a practice blade gift.
I am sure you can shave with it, though
Cheers

Thanked: 346That's true, but you can shave with them. They're ground the same as the japanese razors, and have the same liability: their asymmetry makes them difficult to shave both sides of your face, unless you only shave one-handed anyway, in which case you've probably developed the necessary technique.

Thanked: 9I use both hands... And the visual of its previous use does not sit very well with me.
As I already said myself, this shouldn't stop you though - you can use it for 'normal' shaving
Cheers

I would have thought you would hone it the same as a chisel/plane blade etc:
Hone hollow side as for a normal razor, but, flat the back off on a hone till purfectly flat and polished. I would expect you could only strop that razor on a paddle though the same way you hone it.
