There's some good pictures in the modern barbering manual that's posted in either the links or download section for the various passes.
This helped me with my neck - I now break my neck into an upper and lower section and do them separately (previously I was moving from top to bottom/bottom to top in one pass. The manual breaks the face down into flat (relatively!) sections. As for the hollow most guys have in the sides of their neck, I find the heel of the razor quite useful - I find that I'm more prone to nick myself if I try to use the tip - especially with a spike.
This is basically an addendum to Howard's post about making sure the tip is sharp - if you can shave with the entire lenght of your razor, you have more options for getting at the tricky bits.
