It's touching hey, well it's able to be honed out, keep at it, i'm sure you'll get it. And That's a great offer by shooter, might be good to get someone to set the bevel and make it shave ready for you then you should be set for the rest of the razor's life. Once the warp is honed out. But this could be a good learning experience!

This warp thing has me confused.
I had one this week that I just got off ebay( not a lot of money) that you just wish you could put into a vise and crank it down and leave for a few days!
I'm taping the entire length of the spine on both sides with 3 layers of tape. I don't think the warp on this blade is too bad, just enough to notice and be a PITA on the 4k. If I owned a 1k I don't think it would've taken this long. From my understanding, when it starts making good contact, I can go back to 1 piece of tape and re-set the bevel.

Thank you very much for the offer! I'm a pretty stubborn guy, and since it's now contacting all along the edge, I'll do a few more sets of circles with 3 layers of tape, then drop down to 1 and set the bevel.

IF, I still can't get it and I have the urge to throw it across the room, I'll throw it in a box instead and send it to you!

Thanks again for the tips and the kind offer,

When you take the "extra" two layers of tape off, you'll be changing the bevel angle. So your bevel-setting stone will be removing metal where the side of the blade meets the bevel. And you'll slowly expose new metal, until you meet the existing edge. [If you have a 10x loupe, you should be able to see this happening as you grind.]

I don't think it matters whether the edge passes the TNT _before_ you take off the two layers of tape. What matters is that the edge is OK (by whatever test you use) _after_ you take off the tape, and finish with the bevel-setter.

PS -- IMHO, warped blades are a bitch to work on. Frowning blades aren't fun, but there's a clear path from "frown" to "straight".
    . . . . . Mindful shaving, for a better world.
