Thread: Honing skill; newb, beginner, intermediate, expert, meister. Which are you?

    I peen my blades on a scythe anvil to draw them out sharp and thin, and then shave with them...what does that make me?



    (note to beginners, I'm kidding, never strike anything that is tempered as hard as a razor).

    I think you should leave 'hone count' in but reverse it and add a couple of capital letters: Count Hone, who might be from the same Royal Family as the Super Meister.

    Partially out of respect for those that have put in the years and do this as a living, and partially because I am wise enough to know not to take something I LOVE doing and attempt to turn it into a job.

    I hone for friends, that are good enough people to insist on doing favors in return. This works for me.

    I would put myself as a nervous newby have just sent one of my razors off to be honed and polished at a cost of £40 so i am going to learn how to do this as cost is very high so hopefully it will save me a load of money
